Towerfall Makes $500,000 in Sales Thanks To PS4

Towerfall Makes $500,000Have you checked out Towerfall Ascension? This local multiplayer game, now available on the PlayStation 4, has been lauded among both gamers and the press alike since its first release on the Ouya. We loved the game at PS4 Experts, awarding it a 9/10 and stating "If you have a group of friends you can rustle up for a night of hanging out on the couch and playing TowerFall Ascension, the game is absolutely worth a purchase: It's some of the best in-person multiplayer you will ever experience."

The overall praise has helped the game achieve huge success, as developer Matt Makes Games has announced that Towerfall has amassed over $500,000 in sales across the Ouya, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Developer Matt Thorson has attributed the bulk of the sales to the PlayStation 4, citing Sony pushing the game heavily on the PlayStation Store as a major factor. Speaking to Eurogamer, he also mentioned another reason that the PS4 version may have sold so well.

"People have controllers--it's not confusing to get the controllers like it is for PC--and people have it in their living rooms already. I think a lot of people still sit down with their friends when they play their consoles, whereas they don't do that on PC. Even if it's a single-player game."

The profit allows Thorson to breathe easy as he contemplates his next game. We can't wait to see what it is!
