On April 26th, 1986, one of the most historical non-military nuclear events occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This catastrophic nuclear accident sent highly radioactive fallout into the atmosphere over a large geographical area, including the city of Pripyat. 49,000 people had to be evacuated and could never return to their homes.
