Microsoft E3 recap

Microsoft's E3 showing has passed us by and while this is a PlayStation news outlet, it is important to look over the third party titles we saw presented by Microsoft. Besides, E3 is about the games and the gamers.

While I’m not going to really cover any of the exclusive titles coming to Xbox One, I am going to say that I’m a little jealous that Battletoads will be exclusive to XB1. I do have a lineup of the Xbox consoles, but Battletoads is something I’m rather fond of and only wish everyone could experience it on every console.

Without further ado, let's get to the good stuff. Cyberpunk 2077 was finally given some love last night. A lot of talks about the game have been going on for sometime now, but this was our first look at the upcoming title. Cyberpunk is as bright and colorful as one would expect and obviously set in the future. All I can really tell you is that it coming out eventually, but here's a look at the first trailer.

Ubisoft dropped a teaser trailer, a gameplay demo and release for The Division 2. The Division 2 will release on March 15, 2019, and looks to be shaping up well. I enjoyed the first entry in the series, but it did not last as long as I was hoping. Maybe the sequel will offer me more the second time around. I just got bored of the title after a few months. I enjoyed playing in the DarkZone , but it just got too stale too quick, for my personal taste. I look forward to learning more about TD2. Are you?

Fallout 76 also got a premiere trailer during MS’s show. The game will be set in West Virginia, and is a prequel to all Fallout games that have come before it. You will be playing a character that is one of the first to emerge in an untamed and very different wasteland. Here's a look at the trailer and I’ll have more info on Fallout 76, with the Bethesda recap.

FromSoftware came in with an announcement during the show. I was sent for a loop when Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, was announced. I am a mega fan of FromSoftware and the souls series. While Sekiro is not a souls game, It is clearly a FromSoftware game. I felt like it was a mix of Dark Souls meets feudal Japan. Enter Samurai? Yes Please!

Capcom revealed Devil May Cry 5 and say it is releasing Quarter 2 2019. Not a lot else was revealed, but the trailer clearly shows this is a DMC game. Nice looking graphics and a little taste of the main characters personalities. I wasn’t really a fan of the female characters somewhat ditzy southern voice, but maybe it will grow on me. I’m pretty sure I’ll be picking it up next year. Are you a longtime DMC fan?

Just Cause 4 also got a reveal trailer. While I don’t have much else to go on, I will say trailers always suck me in. It’s like an old Nintendo or Sega commercial from the late 80’s to early 90’s. Just take my money!

Techland is apparently planning the release of Dying Light 2! I did not see this coming. I really enjoyed Dying Light and the game even included some of my own writings in the DLC expansion. I did not think I would see a sequel after techland became a publisher, but I’m happy to be wrong. I have high hopes for the sequel. I had no idea it was even talked about in 2017. Where the heck was I?

Shadow of the Tomb Raider got a story trailer during the Microsoft show. The latest Tomb Raider release will be available on September 14, 2018. I still remember the days when I played the original game on PlayStation. It's amazing to see how far the franchise has come.

For those hardcore fans of crossover fighting titles, Bandai Namco revealed Jump Force. I can’t tell you the entire roster that will be available upon release, One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z characters will be making an appearance. It looks like it could be a pretty good game, but I need to know more before I dive right in.

Kingdom Hearts 3 revealed the world of Frozen will be in the game. Come January 29th, 2019, fans will finally get their hands on the highly anticipated title. Here’s a look at the reveal trailer for the Frozen world.

Metro Exodus gets a release date of February 22, 2019, along with an E3 trailer. I like the Metro games, but i’m not super hyped for the Exodus release. Both Days Gone and Anthem release the same day. I don’t know I could squeeze in Metro Exodus in the same day. There just isn't enough time. Sad face.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition was revealed to be coming all three major consoles in Quarter 4, later this year. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think!

We Happy Few has a release date of August 10, 2018. Finally! I have been looking forward to this game for a while. I hope it has been worth the wait. Here is a look at the story trailer. What do you think? Pass or Play?

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit was revealed at the show. Dontnod Entertainment created the Life is Strange episodic series and have set this new title in the same universe. I love games that have completely different stories, but live in the same universe. It makes for such great story telling, when done right. Here is a look at the trailer.

Last, but not least, I need to mention that Microsoft has acquired 4 developer studios. While it is no surprise that PlayGround Games (developer of Horizon) and Undead Labs (developer of State of Decay) were purchased by MS, I was surprised to hear they also acquired Ninja Theory Studios (developer of Hellblade) and We Happy Few developer Compulsion Games. While we will still get to play We Happy Few on PS4, this is likely the last multiplatform title we see either developer. I wish them all the best of luck!

That about wraps up the Microsoft conference during E3. As you can see, there was plenty of Third Party info to be had. I’m glad I took the time to watch. It was worth it. Get ready for my recap of the Bethesda show next!
